Position: Business Manager
Location: Remote
Reports to: Executive Director and BTN Board Treasurer
Type: Part-time
About Black Theatre
Network:
The Black
Theatre Network (BTN) is a service organization whose members include
theatre makers (actors, directors, playwrights, and designers), practitioners,
scholars, emerging artists, students, and instructors. A small staff and a
volunteer executive board of directors have successfully administered the BTN
for 37 years. A substantial grant from the Black Seed Initiative has allowed
BTN to initiate the process of identifying and hiring a part-time
Business Manager. The ideal candidate will have a
familiarity with business management and accounting principles.
Position Summary: We seek a dynamic and results-driven Business
Manager to oversee our company's operational and financial success. The ideal
candidate will possess a keen understanding of business operations, exceptional
leadership skills, accounting skills, and a proven track record of successfully
managing teams and organizational growth. The Business Manager will work with
the Executive Director, and the executive director will collaborate with
cross-functional teams, set strategic goals, and ensure the efficient execution
of business operations to achieve sustainable success.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Helps BTN Jobs Board vendors
with payment transactions
Creates monthly reports for
the Executive Director
Maintains website and checks
it regularly to approve posts
Manages the Constant Contact
app and keeps the names of BTN members updated
Oversees the member portal of
the website
Creates a list of BTN members
to send to Black Mask Magazine for member subscriptions
Conducts transactions for
members when they have trouble with the website
Supports the BTN Treasurer
with financial reports and payroll management
Attend the Black Theatre
Network’s conferences
Qualifications:
Associate degree in business
administration, accounting management, or related field (Bachelor's preferred).
Excellent computer skills,
including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite with proficiency in Excel and
Word
Proven experience (5+ years)
in a business management role and demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive
operational success.
Strong financial
understanding and experience in budgeting, accounting, and payroll
An attitude that is friendly,
responsive, and highly responsible
Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders
at all levels.
